Approach

The approach is based on a three-way system of coordinated action:

Plan Review Process

The draft Downtown Strategic Plan is open to continuous review by stakeholders, plan implementers, elected officials, legislative bodies, design professionals, and the public-at-large. The results of this review involve the ongoing adjustment of the plan and identification of priority projects. Throughout the campaign, progress reports and newsletters are being published to keep critical lines of communication open and report on review results.

Implementation Council

An Implementation Council has been formed comprised of the chief executives of the organizations associated with priority projects identified during plan review. To date the Council has representation from the public, quasi-public, private, and not-for-profit sectors of our community. The Council is overseeing the Downtown Buffalo 2002! Implementation Campaign, and serves as a neutral table where project help can be provided where and when it is needed. The makeup of the Council will change as projects are completed and new ones adopted.

Action Teams

Action Teams composed those responsible for each project are convened as needed to focus on the actual accomplishment of projects. They are working with the Implementation Council and the Downtown Buffalo 2002! partners to develop timelines and accountability measures that will guide them through the projects.
